BRUSSELS–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Regulatory news:

AKKA Technologies (Paris: AKA) (BSE: AKA) (ISIN: FR0004180537), European leader in engineering consulting and R&D services in the mobility sector is proud to announce the development of a key conversion solution in hand to transform military transport planes on the ground into firefighters. The first kits were designed for the A400M and CASA C235 & C295 aircraft, with similar systems being able to be installed in any other aircraft with a rear cargo door.

AKKA’s aeronautics division in France has developed this sustainable and economical solution allowing military transport aircraft equipped with rear cargo doors to be temporarily reassigned as firefighters when necessary, thus increasing their rate of use and increasing the capacity of low cost aerial firefighting.

This project illustrates the Group’s ambition to reduce the ecological footprint of existing infrastructure and vehicles through technology and innovation.

1 hour plug and play solution kit

The practicability of this kit is underlined not only by its ease of installation but also by its low cost since it does not require any modification of the aircraft and can be removed at any time.

The kit is indeed remarkably simple, it consists of two 10-ton water tanks to be fitted on the aircraft. Transportable by any vehicle in the airport, the installation is done using winches. Once the tanks are installed in the plane, it takes about 10 minutes to fill them after which everything is ready for take off. This cycle can be repeated indefinitely. Being a Pug and play solution, the kit is operational in less than 1 hour.

This project is a fine example of AKKA’s desire to go beyond the status quo, by rethinking existing processes and products through innovation. Doing more with the available resources was the central approach of the project, allowing crucial support to the firefighters to be provided without having to build or purchase new planes. The ecosystem approach to increase sustainability by avoiding the waste of materials and resources is a blue ocean for our innovation strategy.mentioned Pierre Lion, Group Director of AKKA Research, AKKA’s internal R&D and innovation center.

We are very proud of the team that developed this simple, robust and economical solution. The kit was designed for A400M and CASA C-235 & C-295 aircraft but is also compatible with many other aircraft such as the Hercules C-130, the Embraer KC-390 or the Spartan C-27J. AKKA puts all its historical expertise in aeronautics at the service of the development of value-added innovations within the industry. Pierre-Yves LAZIES, Vice-President Aviation of AKKA France.
