Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) MEMBERS and retirees affected by Typhoon Odette (Rai) are now eligible for emergency loans.
GSIS President and Director General Rolando Ledesma announced that the pension fund is now making emergency loans in six typhoon-hit regions of the country, the agency said in its January 14, 2022 press release.
Members residing in the Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions with existing emergency loans may borrow up to P40,000 to pay off their previous emergency loan balance, but will still receive a maximum net amount of P20,000.
Those who do not have an existing emergency loan can apply for P20,000.
The loan is payable in 36 equal monthly installments at six percent interest.
According to GSIS, members on active duty and not on unpaid leave are eligible to apply.
The member should also have no pending administrative or criminal proceedings and should have a net income of not less than P5,000.
Old-age and disability pensioners, on the other hand, can apply for the loan if their resulting monthly net pension after using the loan is at least 25 percent of their basic monthly pension.
Members can submit their application through the agency’s web-based system, email or mailboxes in the lobbies of GSIS offices.
