This morning, Russian troops hit the liberated city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region with anti-aircraft guns.

The relevant statement was made by Kupyansk city council member Vadym Krokhmal during a national telethon, reports a correspondent of Ukrinform.

“According to available data, this morning the Russian army struck the right bank part of the city. They opened fire directly on the civilians. With anti-aircraft guns. They just go crazy [as they are retreating – Ed.]said Krokhmal.

In his own words, the damage caused remains to be verified.

“Our soldiers entered the city. This was announced today by the General Staff. Kupyansk is divided into two parts by the Oskil. Today, on the right bank, where the central part of the city is, the situation is difficult but entirely controlled by our soldiers. On the left bank, there are still minor problems. Cleanup operations will continue,” Krokhmal noted.

According to Krokhmal, the Russian invaders left the city devastated. Communications are partially destroyed. Nevertheless, Krokhmal expressed the hope that they could start the heating season as soon as the city was completely empty.

A reminder that Russian troops captured Kupyansk on February 27, 2022. On September 11, 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces had entered Kupyansk. Ukrainian army continues to liberate occupied settlements in Kupiansk district and Izium district in Kharkiv region.
