On Memorial Day weekend, the American Airpower Museum (AAM) continues its historic participation in the Jones Beach Air Show, flying its legendary “Arsenal of Democracy” warbirds over Jones Beach Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29! AAM’s fleet of iconic and meticulously restored military aircraft will include a B-25 Mitchell bomber, a Douglas C-47 Skytrain troop transport, a Grumman TBM Avenger torpedo bomber, a P-51D Mustang fighter, a Curtiss P- 40 Warhawks and two AT-6 Texan trainers. Two FA-18 Super Hornet Growlers will again be present, subject to other military commitments.

If you can’t make it to Jones Beach for the air show, check out these awesome planes as they take off to Jones Beach and later as they return to Hangar 3 at the airport. République on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, or watch them practice in preparation for the show on Friday, May 27. You can park for FREE in the AAM parking lot and along the New Highway. Bring the family, hang out all day, and watch the pilots start their engines, taxi, and take off to join the Jones Beach Air Show action. Don’t miss this chance to get up close and personal with those propeller-driven bombers and fighters of yesteryear! Flight experiences are also available daily on one of AAM’s AT-6 Texans and Waco Biplane!

According to AAM President Jeff Clyman, the purpose of the three-day extravaganza is twofold. “To honor the men and women of the ‘Greatest Generation’ who built, maintained and flew the iconic warbirds of yesteryear, in a daring defense of freedom during World War II, as well as serving military active, the reservists and the national guard who continue this mission until our days.

The air show features a US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II, “The Warthog”, flying over Jones Beach. The AAM has its own A-10 “Warthog,” our nation’s first close air support strike aircraft, and it’s on display outside Hangar 3, with staff ready to answer your questions about its special features and armaments!
